When I was growing up, there was a question I despised hearing. To this day, I I find myself shuddering when I think back to those five cruel words -- "Does she have a voice?" This question was directed at me. For, you see, even though I was perfectly capable of speaking, I wouldn't... I couldn't.
I know how debilitating it can be to have selective mutism. It is a true fear of speaking and interferes with every aspect of a person's life. My intention is to help others who have it, to help their families, speak at schools, to students and teachers alike.
I have created this blog to tell others my success story! What a triumph to overcome selective mutism!!! It is indeed possible and I am here to help others!!
